Unique Wedding Venues Essex

We want to give you as much flexibility as possible to create your perfect day,  but to reduce the headache on your behalf, we offer the following in our package and leave the finer details to you. Additionally, we would be delighted to advise with aspects of your preparation!


Chalkney Water Meadows

– 3 x giant tipis with a maximum capacity to seat approx. 180 guests. This includes all furniture (chunky wooden tables and benches, wooden chairs), lighting, wooden floor throughout the tipis, dance floor with sound system and disco lights and bar unit. (If you are having fewer guests this is not a problem we can reduce the amount of furniture and the additional space could be used as a ‘chill out’ area).

– Exclusive use of the venue for 48hrs (typically Fri – Sun)

– Outdoor decorative lighting around the lake, camping and reception area (tree up-lighters, festoon and fairy lighting)

– Use of pontoon on lake for humanist ceremony (no civil license at present)

– Luxury loo unit – 3x ladies WCs, and 2x mens WCs with 2x urinals

– Mains power supply

– Water supply

– Free Car parking

– Fire pit in camping area

– Member of staff throughout weekend

– Shower unit (should you and your guests wish to camp for the weekend)

– Bridal tent

– 10m x 10m stretch tent as an additional undercover space

– PA system for speeches/ceremony

– Straw bales for ceremony

Teybrook Orchard

– 50 x 30ft marquee (maximum seated capacity 100). This includes all furniture (chunky wooden tables and benches, wooden chairs), lighting, wooden floor throughout the marquee, dance floor with sound system and disco lights.

– Exclusive use of the venue for 48hrs (typically Fri – Sun)

– Outdoor decorative lighting around the site

– Free car parking

– Use of woodland for humanist ceremony (no civil license at present)

– Mains power

– Fire pit in camping area

– 3 x Showers

– 3 x loos

– Kitchen with undercover awning

– 30 x 30 ft open sided awning which can be used for drinks reception

– Bridal tent of your choice

– 10m x 10m stretch tent as an additional undercover space

– PA system for speeches/ceremony

– Straw bales for ceremony

– 4 looks and 4 showers


General Info For Both Venues


We are happy for you to supply all of this yourselves and we do not charge a corkage fee. We can supply large refrigerated trailers which act as an ideal cold store for all food and alcohol. If you would prefer to have a pay bar for your event then we ask that you use our own bar services.


We work closely with a selection of professional and friendly catering companies who offer a variety of delicious food options. Everything from formal wedding breakfasts to hog roasts, paellas, pizzas and BBQ’s.  If you would prefer to use your own caterers then we ask that you run it past us first so we are confident that they are a professional outfit. If they have not been to the venue before there may be a fee of £30 for them to conduct a site viewing.


The music aspect of our events remains our most restricted policy. We do allow acoustic live music in the afternoon (no speakers). A disco must follow from 20.00 – 23.00 through our own sound system.


We offer ‘glamping’ accommodation in luxury canvas bell tents for 1-5 people. If your guests are interested in staying on site they can book a tent through us and it would be set up for their arrival, or alternatively your guests can bring their own tent/campervan.


We also have a beautiful lakeside log cabin available to rent on a neighbouring lake. The cabin sleeps six and has a bathroom and open plan kitchen/living area. This is also available on request can be used the night before for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready on the morning of the wedding and can also be used as the bride and groom suite.

Other popular items that we hire include:

– Fridge trailer for cooling drinks and food

– BBQ’s (for hangover curing bacon butties on the Sunday morning)

The venue is also suitable for both disabled and elderly guests. However, our loo facilities do not have disabled access and therefore it may be necessary to hire an additional unit.
